Information
Data accumulates constantly in production and quality. It must usually be available to the intelligent monitoring and analysis systems as it arises so that defects can be detected as they occur and new, unknown defects can be revealed immediately.
Specifications for monitoring are therefore necessary (which for consistent implementation were already defined in the FMEA) and relationships must also be known. A simple data collection in the spirit of “a lot helps a lot‿ makes no sense. In contrast: the data to be recorded must be selected carefully and in any case you have to pose the question about the benefit and effects of changes to the data.
If the data and the key performance indicators and evaluations derived from these are available, it is also relevant who must get which information. Having the relevant information in the right place at the right time via the suitable medium helps to provide the necessary bases for decision-making in the case in question.
